Bob is Caro's CEO. Bob is a highly effective Senior Executive who has successfully built and operated businesses within the technology and services industry. Comfortable in the boardroom, and on the front line, Mr. Binns is accomplished at developing and recruiting high performance leadership and operational teams that embrace change and drive measurable operational results.
Prior to joining Caro Bob was President of Unisys Canada, where he was responsible for the overall operations of the Canadian subsidiary of Unisys Corporation. He managed sales, delivery and operations of this complex systems integration and outsourcing company in Canada. Staff complement of 500, Revenues in excess of $100 million, and 20% EBIT. Under Bob's leadership, Unisys Canada won Security Systems Integrator of the Year for its work in leading security-related projects in Canada.
Before Unisys Bob was responsible for Microsoft Canada's Public Sector activities in Canada, focused on: federal, provincial municipal governments, and healthcare. He led sales, marketing and services professionals dedicated to providing these customers with technical and business solutions, driving 100+ million annual plan, at superior profits, with 75 staff. During his tenure, sales volumes more than doubled.
Bob was also founder and president of Bright-Net, a professional services firm providing advisory, management and transaction services for IT companies in Canada, United States and Europe. Prior to founding Allianc-e.com, he was Vice-President at Cebra Inc., a subsidiary of the Bank of Montreal. There he was responsible for e-commerce businesses, including MERX, Canada’s largest Internet procurement services for the public sector supply chain, and EPost, a joint-venture between Canada Post and Bank of Montreal. Both businesses are still vibrant and vital today.
Bob began his career at IBM in corporate Finance and moved through increasingly responsible positions including systems engineering, product management, sales, consulting, and general management. As General Manager reporting to the Vice president, he was responsible for public sector clients in Ontario, and municipal government clients across Canada. As IBM Certified Client Executive, he was a senior advisor to governments and industry in matters of transformation, strategic partnerships for public/private sector, IT and management systems, alternative service delivery, modern supply chain management, and procurement reform.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen’s University, and has studied extensively at Harvard University, J.F. Kennedy School of Government, and Queen’s University in advanced management programs.
