Global
Television Network, wholly-owned by CanWest Global Communications
Corp., broadcasts over-the-air via 11 television stations,
licensed in eight provinces, and reaching 94% of English-speaking
Canada.
CanWest Global owns and operates three television stations
- CH Hamilton, CH Vancouver Island and CH in Montreal, which
are run as independent stations with a strong orientation
to the local markets they serve and with distinct program
schedules, separate from the Global Television Network. CH
is designed to appeal to an older audience than Global, targeting
an upscale 25-54 viewership.
The Challenge
Global TV required the development of a business case to support the
implementation of a core business enterprise solution supporting sales,
traffic and programming across all television properties. Subsequent
to this, a plan was required to support the management of the implementation
program that would stretch across eighteen months and involve a worldwide
collection of resources working in a highly distributed fashion.
The Solution
Caro supplied two principals to support Global in the development of
the business case which was a key milestone in securing CanWest Board
approval to release capital for the project. In parallel to the business
case and capital acquisition process, we also led the core team members
through the development of a high level implementation plan, organization
chart, roles and responsibilities, and development of the high level
implementation process. We now look forward to assisting CanWest Global
Communications and Global Television Network in the successful implementation
of this solution targeted to meet their business objectives of increased
customer satisfaction, better utilization and management of spot inventory
and drive to increased profitability.
